Open

‘Open’ loads a CodeSells Thesaurus Builder database file (.tpo or .tsr) or a Collexis™ database file (.psf) from an ‘Open File’ dialog. The .tsr (or .tpo) file type is the default extension of the Thesaurus Builder database file. To open a database which has been saved with another extension, in the ‘Open’ dialog box, change ‘Files of Type’ to ‘All Files’ (*.*).

CodeSells Thesaurus Builder always checks the compatibility of the opening file with CodeSells Thesaurus Builder database structure. If it matches, the opening process will be started. Otherwise, the application checks for the extension of the file. If the extension is ".psf", then the builder starts to convert the Collexis™ format to its default database structure. In this case, the file extension will be changed to ".tsr" automatically.

If you have some modified records in the current opened thesaurus, the software asks you to save unsaved information before opening.

To open an existing thesaurus:

  1. click on Open item of the Application Menu or press Ctrl+O.

  2. In the 'Open' dialog box, specify the name of an existing thesaurus database.

  3. Click on ‘Open’ button of the dialog.

  4. If a warning box appears for unsaved data:

    1. Click ‘Yes’ to save unsaved data.

    2. Click ‘No’ to ignore unsaved data.

    3. Click ‘Cancel’ to cancel opening process.

  5. Continue compilation of the thesaurus.

Notice: When CodeSells Thesaurus Builder loads a database file, its entire data loads onto the RAM and all changes is never saved until the auto save function is triggered, or you save its database manually by using the ‘Save’ or ‘Save As’ commands. Remember to save changes periodically to decrease the risk of data loss.
