Merging existing thesauri

The builder supports merging of different thesauri following a number of simple steps. It is possible to merge thesauri in different file formats and with different structures. The basic steps are:

  1. Load the first thesaurus in the builder according to the requirements for its file format (tpo, ASCII, psf, etc.) and using the appropriate commands.

  2. Put the cursor on the term that you want to be the top node of the second thesaurus.

  3. Use the ‘Merge’ function to merge the second thesaurus.

  4. Continue until all the thesauri are added.

  5. Drag and drop and edit the terms until you have the right structure.

  6. Save the database and let it to complete Quality Assurance task to analyze the combined thesaurus and repair where necessary.

Notice: You can merge an existing CodeSells Thesaurus Builder database format (.tpo and .tsr) or Collexis™ .psf format to the current opened thesaurus.

Notice: Before starting to merge a thesaurus to the current thesaurus, the application checks for any conflict between the user defined relationships of two thesauruses. If any, you will be asked to cancel merging or ignore the incompatible relations and continue merging thesauri. if you select ignore, all incompatible relations will be set to the default value of the associative or hierarchical relationships.

NB: This function has not been included in Light, Student and Express editions of CodeSells Thesaurus Builder.
