Cut

Use the 'Cut' command to move term(s) within the tree view of the thesaurus structure.

 

To move the term(s):

  1. Select the terms you want to move them to another position of the thesaurus structure.

  2. Click on the Cut button in the Edit group of the Home ribbon tab page, or press Ctrl+X.

  3. Select the destination node. This node will be the broader term of the moving term(s).

  4. Click on the Paste button in the View group of the Home ribbon tab page, or press Ctrl+V.

  5. Wait while moving process.

  1. Click on the triangle below the Sort button in the View group of the Home ribbon tab page.

 

In step 4, you can Click on the triangle below the Paste button and select 'Paste As Synonym' item. So, all the moving terms will be added to the synonym field of the destination term; or if you select 'Paste As Related Term' or 'Paste As Opposite', moving terms will be added to the related terms or opposites of the current focused term.

 

Notice: By choosing 'Paste As Synonym', 'Paste As Related Term', or 'Paste As Opposite' items, all the ancillary information of the moving terms will be lost.

 

Tip: You can move the terms within the tree view by dragging and dropping them on the destination term.

 

Notice: If one or more of the moved terms is put as the narrower term of the same term, you will be notified by a warning message.
